When you support Greene County Habitat for Humanity, you support our partner families as they team up with our volunteers to build their own decent, safe, affordable homes in Greene County. 

Since 1996, the 66 houses we’ve built represent 66 families who have established a foundation for success through our home purchase program.

With pride and gratitude, these families have been able to buy homes of their own with affordable mortgages that are frequently less than the rent they were paying previously. These 66 families include 74 adults and 128 children, who have been able to drastically improve their living conditions.

ReStore

Our Habitat ReStore accepts donations and sell a constantly changing inventory of diverse, high-quality merchandise to the public at a fraction of the retail price, while diverting reusable household items and building materials from area landfills.

Sales of donated items help Habitat for Humanity partner with local families to build, rehabilitate and repair safe and affordable homes in your community and around the world — a good deal for you, our community, and the environment. Together, we can help families achieve the strength, stability, and self-reliance they need to build a better future while creating stronger neighborhoods.

Ways to Donate

Thank you for your support of Greene County Habitat for Humanity, Inc.  Your support allows us to continue our mission to continue to construct and sell affordable homes to hardworking families in our community. 

Homes constructed using the Habitat-proven model of "sweat equity" affordability are sold with no-interest mortgages. Those funds are used to further the mission. 

One of the most exciting moments in our community is when a Habitat homeowner pays off their mortgage!  Habitat has constructed 66 homes and has celebrated the payoff of four mortgages. 

Habitat families are hardworking neighbors who "pay it forward!"   Your support helps us build more homes as we change lives and work to provide everyone a decent place to live.

What does a Habitat house mean for Greene County?

Improved Education

  • Over the past 15 years, 95% of Greene County Habitat kids graduated from high school
  • Of the high school graduates, 84% continued their education or entered the military
  • 15 have graduated from college
  • Many of our homeowners have advanced their own education

Improved Economics

  • The 66 homes have added more than $3.6 million to the county’s tax base
  • Substandard housing has been reduced significantly
  • The increase in affordable housing encourages economic development

Improved Community

Compared to renters of the same age, income, race, etc., Habitat homeowners in the U.S. are:

  • 12 times wealthier
  • 15% more likely to vote
  • 16% more likely to belong to school and community organizations
  • 28% more likely to repair or improve their homes
